When it comes to VMware and Innovation the first thing that probably comes to mind is vMotion as it truly radically changed the world of IT forever. Every couple of years a new product, or feature, is announced that helps customers move forward on their digital journey. How does VMware decide to invest in certain areas, and which pivotal industry developments have resulted in innovative product and features coming to the market? In this keynote Duncan Epping will not only discuss the past and the present when it comes to innovation at VMware, but will also provide hints of what may be coming in the future for vSphere!
In this session, Johan van Amersfoort will share lessons learned of his 7-year journey to build a homelabs to run AI workloads. His own AI journey started in 2017 when the first VDI by Day, Compute by Night concept was developed. Since then, het build many different apps, platforms and used his lab to know more about AI, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Models, Neural Networks, and things like computer vision. What worked? What didn’t? Do you always need to invest in GPUs? Can you build it cost-effective (spoiler-alert: YES!)? Do you actually need hardware or can you run it in the cloud? He will share interesting insights, show demos, and will share some tips and tricks to kickstart your own journey!
In today’s world, where businesses have fully embraced the power of chatbots and Large Language Models (LLMs), many forget the risk of feeding public AI services with sensitive data. Organizations that do see the risk and choose to run LLMs in their own datacenter experience challenges because MLops teams have trouble to scale their infrastructure. This is where the newly announced VMware Private AI Foundation, that includes VMware vSphere with Tanzu and NVIDIA AI Enterprise, can help. In this session, Johan van Amersfoort (Chief Evangelist at ITQ) will explain the basics of AI, the risks of using public AI services, the added value of VMware Private AI Foundation, and will introduce the world to Project Einstein, the newest member of the ITQ family. A must-see session for anyone who would like to kickstart their own Private AI Journey!
Get ready to be thrilled! This session is a must-attend for anyone passionate about NSX. You will discover the latest advancements in Edge Architecture, and witness a demo that brings it all to life. NSX has revolutionized the game, and you don’t want to be left behind. Get ready for the future!
In this hilarious and thought-provoking talk with a plethora of live demos, Gareth takes the stage to explore the lighter side of artificial intelligence in the business expanding from his last years talks. From the absurdities of AI-generated humour to the existential crises faced by robots trying to figure out human relationships, Gareth pokes fun at the quirks and challenges of creating intelligent machines that can make us laugh - or at least try to. Using a mix of humour, storytelling, and geeky insight, Gareth shares their own experiences working with AI systems, from coding chatbots to debating the merits of robot stand-up comedy. With a focus on the human side of AI development, this talk will leave you chuckling at the silly side of machine learning and appreciating the clever ways that AI can bring us closer together - even if it's just through a well-timed dad joke. Warning: This talk may contain (very) mild profanity, robot puns, and occasional references to Anime. All attendees are required to bring their sense of humour and an open mind to the absurdities of AI.
GOVC is a handy CLI for scripting virtual infrastructure. In this session we’ll see practical approach to not only query but also create/edit vsphere objects, from hosts, to clusters, to virtual machines and much more. Combined with json output processed by JQ (json query cli) we’ll see we can do some really funky stuff. I’ll be using practical examples based on my own usage in project like cpodfactory, vmware-download as well as some live troubleshooting assistance. If you’re interested in automation/scripting, this should be interesting for you.
Not sure why everyone is talking about why you should switch to NVMe Over Fabric (NVMe-oF) to handle your vSphere storage? Don't want to ask the question "why" with your peers? This 25 minute session will give you the full details on what does, and doesn't, change when leveraging NVMe-oF and the "why" you should make the switch.
Some cultures talk about feelings more openly than others. But one thing is an absolute truth in any culture. Men, find more difficult to talk about how they feel than women. Despite if you are a man or a woman, you are in a leadership or entry level at work, your are a parent or single, it is estimated that 1 out of 4 people will suffer from mental health issues, being burnout, stress, depression, anxiety and the list goes on. There is a way to break this estimate, and this is by talking about these numbers and what they represent in our own lives. I invite you to come and have an open conversation about what Burnout really is and what you can do to identify it in yourself and help others around you as well.
Given their sometimes almost unbelievable abilities it can be difficult to remember that Generative AI services are just a tool — a tool that needs to be used at the right place, at the right time by the right people. During this session we will show you how to use this tool on your services, on your data and in your environment and what pivotal role Google Cloud Vmware Engine plays in a successful AI strategy.

AVI is a pretty great loadbalancer, but like any loadbalancer, it has a lot of moving parts. We’ve encountered a few things that I feel might be worth talking about.
Building on my talk last year we are going to look at Aria Operations (formerly vRealize Operations) and Tanzu Guardrails and see what changed apart from the names… Aria Operations has built-in tools to check your environment constantly for security misconfigurations. And they are free! Learn how to use them in this talk: - Check the vSPhere hardening guidelines automatically. - Check for industry standards like ISO 27001 and CIS. - Create your own! - Audit all users and actions in vROps. - Dive deeper into compliance and security with Tanzu Guardrails - Find misconfigurations in your cloud accounts. - See what changes we have seen this year. - Start to use frameworks such as Mittre Attack to make your architecture more secure. -What does NIS-2 mean for you ?
Every monitoring solution has contamination, including Aria Operations. How do you get out of this chaos and gain control over your alerts? What can you fine-tune to make your daily work easier and, above all, not to overlook the really important things! This includes the use of custom groups and policies, but also determining what you do not want to see!
Microsoft says that betweeen 80-90% from the ransomware attacks originate through unmanaged devices. Am i really protected by my Xdr Next generation antivirus if the ransomware is beeing launched from an unmanaged device? We will find this out in this Demo.
In this session, we dive deep into maximizing the capabilities of VMware Aria Operations for comprehensive compliance monitoring. We explore the importance of custom properties, integration with vCenter for expanded data access, and conducting comparative analysis with tools like RVTools. Attendees will gain actionable insights to optimize their compliance strategy and ensure a robust security posture. Aria Operations enables you to visualize object compliance in your inventory, showcasing benchmarks such as STIG, aligned with standard rules, regulatory best practices, or custom alert definitions aimed at protecting systems against configuration vulnerabilities. However, some metrics and properties outlined in the new CIS list for vSphere 8 are absent from Aria Operations but retrievable from vCenter. Moreover, certain customers demand additional information that isn’t readily available within Aria Operations. It appears that Aria Operations may not collect all necessary information to fulfill these requirements. Comparatively, RVTools offers more metrics and properties, raising questions about Aria Operations’ capabilities in this aspect. In this session, participants will learn how to create custom properties in Aria Operations for any object. We will demonstrate retrieving this information directly from the vCenter API and populating data in Aria Operations using PowerShell and Aria API, ensuring a comprehensive compliance monitoring solution tailored to organizational needs. Join us as we bridge the gap between compliance requirements and operational reality with VMware Aria Operations.
